Are you British, or are you American?

Are you British, or are you American?

As in, which do you choose if you had to?

Ich Bin Ein ________________?

Make your choice. You can't say 'both'.

British, absolutely. I'm all for a little subtlety.

I like subtlety, too, but nearly 5 years in Britain didn't knock out my American directness! After the UK, it's so refreshing to hear directness from the Aussies! (Usually.)

American, all the way!!

One of my passports says that I am British, but it knows I am really Australian.

Human, of course.

But if I have to choose, it's not difficult. Both have run global empires with deeply ambiguous results. But only one is generally repentant about the damage. One produced Shakespeare, though the other did produce peanut butter, so it's not all one-sided.

I'm sure my opinion may change when I actually GET to the UK, but at the moment I'm leaning on the British side.

Yes, my family is American.
Yes, I've been to USA 6 or 7 times.
Yes, It's beautiful, and there are great people in USA too.

But I'm a very laid back person. And can do without the 'gun-ho', 'hyperactive', 'consumeristic' side of USA.

I say British.
