Jensen

Happy Birthday to a dear friend, Michael Jensen. This photograph is exactly 20 years old, which feels downright weird. We were about 17 when this pic was taken. I cut and pasted it from an old School Magazine.

Mike and I first really spoke one evening in 1986 about God, the gospel, the mysteries of women, the struggle for purity, and the meaning of life. (When we were16, nothing much else seemed worth talking about.)

Have any readers kept good friends since your days at high school?

Pay your tribute here...

I am the one without the hat and glasses.

I just want that clear.

How did I choose those glasses?

I was thinking while posting that we were Harry Potter's age when this was taken.

I particularly like the contrast between the "gangster" expression and the hat.

I'm obliged to pay tribute to my friend james: he and I go back to Year 8, and he's still one of my closest friends: we make the effort to stay in touch fairly regularly.

Good post!
My tribute goes out to Ricky Woerner (the co-author of my new blog). We go back all the way to Kindergarten, in a Northamerican Baptist School... in Chile!

At 22 yrs, we are still good friends.

P.s.- Did you know that Becka's studying at Westminster now?

One of the blessings of staying a church for more than a decade is that many of us got to stay pretty close for longer than average.
But actually from high school; AJ and Anna G. Two sisters who are wonderful friends - having history with people is amazing...
Get Laurel to posts some stories from being away!
love to all :)

Yep - Amy Perkins and Anna Forstyh - still a trio after 15 years. What a joy!

PS also *not* a fan of Piper

Rachel -- Welcome.

(May I ask - in what sense are you not a Piper fan? In the sense of my post?)

Can I include my friendship with Megan Jones Ady that started just after we finished year 12, as we prepared for our first Beach Mission (Forster 87-8) and has survived fabulously despite living on opposite ends of the world for very long (too long) periods? Even when in Australia we have mostly lived in different states.

Love you Megs!!!

Justin - re: John Piper - abosolutely in the sense of your post! As in - I have found his work extremely helpful but agree wholeheartedly with your comments about "fan clubs".

PS love your blog - lots of helpful / insightful stuff - especially enjoyed your thoughts on infant baptism and "opting out"...
