How much did you pay for Harry?

I am $US22.75 poorer for buying Harry (That $A25.70 for my antipodean readers).

I'm wondering if I was ripped off, or am I good?

How much did you pay?

i pre-ordered it at angus&robertson for $A29.95 (the RRP here is $49.95, but only Glebebooks is charging full price, because they don't really want to sell it).

You did well, compared to all of Australia, at least.

Julia -- but how ripped off?

$18.99 USD. B&N member pre-order.
You may have been ripped off? I don't know about that, though. Books are too expensive nowadays.

totally ripped off - all you had to do was plan ahead like me (9 months - hmm that's like planning for a baby ain't it?) and get it for FREE from the library!!!!

Julia -- I misread you!

"Totally not ripped off"

I ought to read carefully!

Of course you were ripped off. All you had to do was wait three stinking extra days. Order it used (but in like new condition) from amazon now for under $20 including shipping to your door. Or from half.com for under $19 including shipping to your door.

But the best thing to do, if you were planning to buy it, was to get it from amazon for $17.99 *before* it came out (at least 4 days prior), and order one other book you wanted at the same time, so you qualify for free super saver shipping, and it would have arrived on Saturday guaranteed or your money back.
I'm borrowing it for free from a friend =)

Golly, the exchange rate really sucks for America these days. My USD went much further when I was down under two years ago.

Martin,

When Laurel and I got married, the Australian Dollar was worth half your dollar, and now its near the same.

Of course, our dollar is a bouy floating on the ocean of the American Currency. We simply reflect the strength or weakness of your dollar.

Anyones, this is not good news for me: I'm taking my USD to Australia in a couple of months!
